Why you are not a millionaire yet

I stumbled on a video of a talk by Rachel Rodgers titled, “why you are not a millionaire yet” and my ear perked up because in fact I was not a millionaire yet and maybe all the answers lied in the next 18 mins of this video. So here is what I learnt

  1. You think you are an imposter. Because of this mindset you under charge and over deliver; this impacts your earning potential. The solution is to take action first and your feelings and thoughts will catch up to believing that you are enough
  2. You are pretending to be boring: step out from hiding behind what everyone is doing and be noticeable because we all have interesting sides to us and stories to tell that will grab and hold the attention of your potential clients – so say something, say something that matters and say it boldly.
  3. You are selling too much stuff. This means that you are not known for any particular thing, your clients don’t know what you are selling, what you stand for, or who you are. The one thing you sell should be scalable, deliver on a big promise, and it needs to be rooted in what you are already drawn to
  4. You think you have to do it alone. Trust me you need a team to help you so you can deliver the best value to your client

It makes a lot of sense to me that these four factors can significantly contribute to your inability to become a millionaire assuming that being a millionaire is essentially the outcome of a successful business endeavour.
