The Great Resignation

The short answer is, because the genie is out of the bottle, the worst has happened and people are no longer afraid.

To really answer this question , you should consider, why do people stay in jobs, especially ones that they don’t like? It is fear, fear of what is on the other side, fear of not finding another job, fear of not being able to meet their basic needs, fear of what others will say, fear of never having tried it before.. Lots and lots of fear.

Starting in 2020, the unimaginable happened for a lot of people globally; lots and lots of people lost their jobs, the world worked for home for months, the world got sick, people died, many of the things we feared the most happened, and it happened to all of us.

What happens when the thing you fear the most happens? Well , there is nothing else to fear. The worst has happened so damn it all. What you are left with then are other options  your fear is no longer a factor (at least for now)

So people are taking the trips that they always longed for, applying for the job that they always wanted, starting a business that they always thought they would, and for some the future is unknown – what is known is that they are in fact ready for a change. I know one brave person that the last point applied to, and even though you may not know what is in stock at least it is not what you left behind.
